Involving men in cervical cancer prevention; a qualitative enquiry into male perspectives on screening and HPV vaccination in Mid-Western Uganda

Marlieke de Fouw et al.

Summary: This qualitative study aimed to understand the perspectives of males on cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination in Western-Uganda. The study found that there were misconceptions about the causes of cervical cancer and limited knowledge about the preventative aspect of screening and vaccination among men. However, after being informed about cervical cancer, men were willing to support prevention for their wives and daughters. Therefore, active involvement of men in creating awareness is crucial to increase uptake and acceptance of prevention services.

Recent Developments for the Detection of Escherichia Coli Biosensors Based on Nano-Objects-A Review

Yousra Benserhir et al.

Summary: Advances in nanotechnology have allowed for the development of rapid and sensitive detection strategies for pathogenic bacteria using new nanomaterials and electronic nano-sensors. This review focuses on the use of biosensors for label-free detection of Escherichia coli, with an emphasis on the beneficial use of nanomaterials and nano-objects. By comparing different technologies and measurement techniques, it is found that sensors using nanoparticles as markers exhibit higher sensitivity and flexibility, with real-time electrical detection methods being dominant over optical methods.

Synthesis and study photocatalytic activity of Fe2O3-doped ZnO nanostructure under visible light irradiation

Muntadher Rahmah et al.

Summary: A study was conducted to fabricate doped Zinc Oxide nanostructures with different concentrations of iron oxide using a low-cost co-precipitation method. The doped ZnO showed significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity in degrading methyl blue dye under visible light irradiation. This work indicates that Fe2O3-doped ZnO nanoparticles are promising photocatalysts for the degradation of toxic organic waste in water.
