Assessment of H SAF satellite snow products in hydrological applications over the Upper Euphrates Basin

Aynur Uensoy et al.

Summary: This study assesses the performance of EUMETSAT's satellite application facility on snow products in a mountainous region in Turkey and validates it using MODIS snow extent data. The results show that satellite data is highly applicable and useful in hydrological applications, highlighting the need for further dissemination.

A retrospective on hydrological catchment modelling based on half a century with the HBV model

Jan Seibert et al.

Summary: Hydrological catchment models are important tools for water resource management planning. Although computer capabilities have greatly increased, some relatively simple models are still widely used. The HBV model, first applied in Sweden 50 years ago, is a typical example of a conceptual catchment model. The history of model development, from consideration of different model structures to studies using numerous catchments and cloud computing facilities, is described, and the wide range of model applications is discussed.

Merging multiple satellite-based precipitation products and gauge observations using a novel double machine learning approach

Ling Zhang et al.

Summary: This study proposed a novel double machine learning approach to merge multiple satellite-based precipitation products and gauge observations, with results showing that the DML algorithms outperform other merging methods and original data in precipitation estimation over the Chinese mainland.

Runoff Projection from an Alpine Watershed in Western Canada: Application of a Snowmelt Runoff Model

Kyle Siemens et al.

Summary: The study used the degree-day Snowmelt Runoff Model (SRM) combined with MODIS to remotely sense various factors for predicting future runoff changes. The SRM simulations showed consistent patterns in historical flows and future projections, demonstrating good performance in simulating runoff.
