Discrete Sliding-Mode-Based MRAS for Speed-Sensorless Induction Motor Drives in the High-Speed Range

Tianqing Wang et al.

Summary: By combining the robustness of sliding-mode observer (SMO) and the adaptability of model reference adaptive system (MRAS), the sliding-mode-based MRAS can enhance the speed estimation performance of speed-sensorless induction motor (IM) drives. However, there is a mismatch problem between the fixed SMO gains and the variable stability boundary, resulting in performance degradation or instability in high-speed range. To address this issue, a discrete SMO is proposed to expand the effective operation range of the sliding-mode-based MRAS. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed speed estimation scheme.

An Enhanced Sliding Mode Speed Control for Induction Motor Drives

Fahimeh Shiravani et al.

Summary: An enhanced Integral Sliding Mode Control (ISMC) for mechanical speed control of an Induction Motor (IM) is proposed and experimentally validated in this paper. By designing the controller in a specific framework and using an enhanced ISMC surface, global asymptotic speed tracking is guaranteed, with faster speed convergence rate and better steady-state error elimination compared to traditional methods and PI control methods.

Speed sensorless control of a bearingless induction motor with combined neural network and fractional sliding mode

Zebin Yang et al.

Summary: In this paper, a speed sensorless control strategy is proposed to address the problem of speed and flux observation in a bearingless induction motor under parameter changes and external disturbances. The strategy combines radial basis function neural network and fractional sliding mode control. Simulation and experimental results show that this method can effectively identify the flux and speed under different conditions and ensure good rotor suspension stability.

Speed control and torque ripple minimization of SRM using local unimodal sampling and spotted hyena algorithms based cascaded PID controller

Hossam Kotb et al.

Summary: This paper proposes the use of two recent optimization techniques, Local Unimodal Sampling (LUS) and Spotted Hyena Optimizer (SHO), to optimize the cascaded PID controller for controlling the speed and reducing the torque ripples of the switched reluctance motor. The proposed algorithms have the advantage of better convergence and lower computational efforts compared to other optimization techniques. Experimental results demonstrate that the PID controller is superior to the fractional-order PID (FOPID) controller, and the SHO-based cascaded PID controller exhibits less current and torque ripples with improved speed response.

Performance analysis of DTC-SVM in a complete traction motor control mechanism for a battery electric vehicle

Matthew Liam De Klerk et al.

Summary: The paper investigates the suitability and performance of space vector modulation based direct torque control in the traction motor control system of an electric vehicle. The study shows that the improved control mechanism provides favorable results, such as decreased torque and current ripples, wide speed range operation, and accurate speed control without the need for mechanical speed sensors. These findings demonstrate the suitability of the investigated complete control mechanism for electric vehicle applications.

PI Regulator-Based Duty Cycle Control to Reduce Torque and Flux Ripples in DTC of Six-Phase Induction Motor

Hossein Masoumkhani et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a proper duty cycle control method to reduce torque and flux ripples and harmonic loss in direct torque control of a six-phase induction machine. By selecting suitable voltage vectors and combining with duty cycle control technique, the torque and flux ripples and current harmonics are significantly reduced. A simple control method independently calculates the duty ratio of voltage vectors, demonstrating advantages such as reduced ripples and harmonics, simplicity, and constant switching frequency.
