Gunshot injury to the colon by expanding bullets in combat patients wounded in hybrid period of the Russian-Ukrainian war during 2014-2020

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical features of colon injuries in combat patients in East Ukraine and compared the differences between injuries caused by shape-stable and hollow-point bullets. The results showed that injuries caused by hollow-point bullets were more severe, with higher rates of hemorrhagic shock, left colon involvement, and larger areas of colon defects. The mortality rate was also higher in patients with hollow-point bullet injuries.

Influence of impact velocity and impact attack angle of bullets on damage of human tissue surrogate dd ballistic gelatin

Summary: This study investigated the terminal performance of bullets in the human body and examined the effects of impact velocity and impact attack angle on their performance. The expansion method was used to evaluate the bullet performance based on the expansion of cracks and the permanent cavity in ballistic gelatin. The results showed that the length of the less damaged part of the gelatin block was mainly influenced by the impact attack angle, while the average damaged area of this part depended on both the impact attack angle and the impact velocity. Cracks significantly contributed to the total volume of damaged gelatin, and the total damaged gelatin increased with the impact velocity, impact attack angle, and expansion extent.

A combined cowhide/gelatine soft tissue simulant for ballistic studies

Ukraine's Experience with Management of Combat Casualties Using NATO's Four-Tier Changing as Needed Healthcare System
