The effects of pretreatment on the surface roughness of plain-woven fabric by the Kawabata Evaluation System

Kura Alemayehu Beyene et al.

Summary: This study assessed the relationship between surface roughness of cotton plain-woven fabric before and after pretreatment stages. The findings showed that the roughness values increased after desizing, but reduced during scouring, bleaching, and mercerization. Mercerized fabric had the smoothest surface. The pretreatment stages had significant impacts on the surface roughness.

Microstructure and performance characteristics of acoustic insulation materials from post-consumer recycled denim fabrics

Shafiqul Islam et al.

Summary: One of the key issues of the 21st century is reducing environmental pollution caused by waste. The use of recycled materials and environmentally friendly manufacturing methods can help address this issue. Sound pollution, which has been increasing due to industrialization and modernization, can be reduced by using acoustic insulation materials made from recycled textile waste. This study evaluated the recycling of used apparels to produce sustainable products that can be used as acoustic insulation panels.

An integrated approach to develop performance index of bed linen fabric

Meenakshi Ahirwar et al.

Summary: The quality of bed sheets is not only determined by thread count, but also by characteristics such as breathability, moisture absorbency, and soft feel. This research aims to develop an objective method to measure the performance behavior of bed linen fabric. The study concludes that a high correlation exists between the subjective and objective performance index, indicating that the performance of bed linens can be accurately estimated using the developed equation.

The effects of yarn and fabric structural parameters on surface friction of plain-woven fabrics

Kura Alemayehu Beyene et al.

Summary: The study found that weft yarn count and pick density have statistically significant effects on the frictional behavior of the fabric surface properties, with weft yarn count positively correlated with both coefficient of friction (MIU) and mean deviation of coefficient of friction (MMD), while pick density negatively correlated with both MIU and MMD. There is multicollinearity between weft count, pick density, and their interactions (Count X Density) during the experiment.
