In this study, six new records of bees and wasps are introduced for Formentera island, four of which are new records for the entire Balearic Islands. These new records increase the diversity of Hymenoptera on Formentera island from 177 to 183 species, and for the Balearic Islands from 516 to 520 species, as well as expanding the distribution range of these species.
The Balearic Islands (Spain) are an important biodiversity hotspot for booth bees and wasps. In this study, we introduce six new records of these groups for the Formentera island: Anthophora atroalba Lepeletier, 1841, Colletes ligatus Erichson, 1835, Lasioglossum laticeps (Schenck, 1869), Lasioglossum smeathmanellum (Kirby, 1802), Andrena flavipes Panzer, 1799 and Rhynchium oculatum (Fabricius, 1781), being the first four of them new records for entire archipelago (The Balearic Islands). These new records increase the diversity of Hymenoptera on the island of For-mentera from 177 up to 183 and for the Balearic Islands from 516 up to 520, as well as the expansion of the range of distribution of these species.
