Bacillus spp. Contamination: A Novel Risk Originated From Animal Feed to Human Food Chains in South-Eastern Bangladesh

Md Atiqul Haque et al.

Summary: This study provides information on the contamination of Bacillus spp. in commercially available poultry and animal feeds, as well as animal-derived products in Bangladesh. The research findings indicate a high prevalence of Bacillus spp. contamination in these samples, with a significant number of isolates carrying virulence genes that pose a threat to human health. The study highlights the urgent need for establishing maximum tolerance limits and addressing the potential risks of Bacillus spp. in the animal industry.

Co-application of biochar and organic fertilizer promotes the yield and quality of red pitaya (Hylocereus polyrhizus) by improving soil properties

Limei Chen et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the combined impact of biochar and organic fertilizer on the soil properties, yield, and quality of red pitaya. The results showed that the combined application of biochar and organic fertilizer was more effective than their sole application, with a medium dose of organic fertilizer combined with 3% biochar showing the best synergistic effect on red pitaya yield and economic benefits.

Study of the impact of increasing the highest retail price of subsidized fertilizer on rice production in Indonesia

Imam Mujahidin Fahmid et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the dynamics of subsidized fertilizer policy, the development of the highest retail price, and the effects of price changes on rice production. The findings indicate that fertilizer input costs account for 10.25% of total costs, and increasing the subsidized fertilizer price leads to a decrease in national rice productivity and harvest area. Measures to increase the harvest area are needed to maintain national rice production.

Agriculture by Irrigation Modifies Microbial Communities and Soil Functions Associated With Enhancing C Uptake of a Steppe Semi-Arid Soil in Northern Patagonia

Juan P. Frene et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the transformation of semiarid steppe soil in Northern Patagonia after 5 years of intensive irrigated agriculture. The results showed that irrigated agriculture increased organic matter and enzymatic activities in the soil, while altering the soil particle structure. Moreover, irrigated agriculture also had an impact on the microbial communities, leading to changes in the abundance and diversity of bacteria and fungi.
