Mobile-health intervention for smoking cessation among Cambodian people living with HIV: A mixed-methods pilot study

Thanh Cong Bui et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of a fully automated, interactive smartphone-delivered intervention for smoking cessation among people living with HIV in Cambodia. The results demonstrated that the intervention was highly feasible and efficacious, with high rates of treatment engagement and retention. Factors contributing to successful abstinence included avoiding other smokers, having coping skills, and receiving social/familial support. The intervention has the potential for wide-scale implementation in Cambodia and other low-income countries.
