Evidence for the Cost-Effectiveness of Return-to-Work Interventions for Mental Illness Related Sickness Absences: A Systematic Literature Review

Summary: This systematic literature review examined the cost-effectiveness of return-to-work interventions for workers with medically certified sickness absences related to mental disorders. The results suggest that such interventions can be cost-effective, with majority of studies conducted in the Netherlands. While economic evaluations are gaining recognition in some jurisdictions, more research is needed in different disability system contexts to improve understanding and application.
