COVID-19 and delayed antenatal care impaired pregnant women's quality of life and psychological well-being: What supports should be provided? Evidence from Vietnam

Long Hoang Nguyen et al.

Summary: This study explores the associations between different types of support and the quality of life and mental well-being of pregnant women whose antenatal care was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam. The results indicate that higher satisfaction with parents-in-law care and emotional support is associated with better physical and emotional well-being, while higher appraisal support is related to poorer physical and emotional well-being. Additionally, higher satisfaction with relatives' care and emotional support is correlated with better life satisfaction.

COVID-19 and delayed antenatal care impaired pregnant women's quality of life and psychological well-being: What supports should be provided? Evidence from Vietnam

Long Hoang Nguyen et al.

Summary: This study examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on antenatal care for pregnant women in Vietnam and explored the associations between different forms of support and their quality of life and mental well-being. The findings suggest that higher levels of satisfaction with care from parents-in-law and emotional support are associated with better physical and emotional well-being, while higher levels of appraisal support are related to poorer well-being in these domains. Higher levels of satisfaction with care from relatives and emotional support are correlated with better life satisfaction. The study highlights the importance of involving other family members, such as parents-in-law and relatives, in intervention programs to improve the well-being of pregnant women during epidemics like COVID-19.

The risk for nonpsychotic postpartum mood and anxiety disorders during the COVID-19 pandemic

Jelena Stojanov et al.

Summary: The study aimed to identify risk factors for nonpsychotic postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (NPMADs) in Serbia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results showed that higher EPDS scores were associated with factors such as older age, being single, unemployed, dissatisfaction with household income, quarantine, social isolation, lack of social support, and emotional problems. Postpartum women were found to be more anxious and helpless during social isolation compared to non-postpartum women. Understanding these risk factors could help in preventing mental disorders in future pandemics.

Summary: The study found that 60.4% of pregnant women in Vietnam were willing to receive COVID-19 vaccination, and 82.6% were willing to pay for the vaccine.
