Investigating recycling decisions of internet recyclers: A step towards zero waste economy

Syed Abdul Rehman Khan et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the information asymmetry between online recyclers and consumers, and finds an optimal strategy to address the moral hazard and extra cost issues. A game theory model is used to analyze the decision-making process between internet recyclers and consumers. The low moral hazard strategy is found to be optimal for internet recyclers, but the moral hazard probability should be increased when there is an increase in high-quality products.

An integrated model of consumers' intention to buy second-hand clothing

Kian Yeik Koay et al.

Summary: This study proposes and tests an integrated model of the theory of planned behaviour and the theory of consumption values to explain consumers' intention to buy second-hand clothing. The results show that attitudes towards second-hand clothing, injunctive norms, descriptive norms, moral norms, and perceived behavioural control have a significant positive influence on consumers' intention to buy second-hand clothing. Emotional value and environmental value are also found to positively influence attitudes, but no support is found for the positive influence of social value and epistemic value on attitudes. The study confirms the usefulness of the integrated model in explaining consumers' intention to buy second-hand clothing and provides valuable suggestions to practitioners.

A Bibliometric Analysis of End-of-Life Vehicles Related Research: Exploring a Path to Environmental Sustainability

Zhang Yu et al.

Summary: Given the rapid economic development and growing environmental concerns, end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) are of significant socioeconomic value as a crucial waste stream. This research aims to provide an overview of the current research scenario on ELVs by reviewing the critical published studies of the last 22 years, using bibliometric analysis techniques. The results reveal a considerable increase in the number of articles published in recent years, with the United States, China, and the United Kingdom being the key producers of influential ELV research. Chinese universities have the most ELV-related articles published globally, and Serbian researcher Vladimir Simic authored the most ELV-related articles during the research period. Various research themes, including management and recycling, resource recovery and components, life cycle evaluation, and socioeconomic effects, are identified in the literature. Strong associations between different ELV research clusters are also revealed.
