Towards retail innovation and ambidexterity: insights from a Swedish retailer

Summary: This research explores how incumbent retail firms can organize for innovation based on the type of innovation they aim for, using organizational ambidexterity as a perspective. The study finds that for radical, strategic innovation, structural ambidexterity is necessary, but integration of innovation activities into the mainstream organization is critical. For incremental and operational innovations, contextual ambidexterity, where employees divide their time between innovation-related and efficiency-related tasks, is more suitable.

A systematic literature review of lean manufacturing implementation in manufacturing-based sectors of the developing and developed countries

Summary: This study comparatively discusses the effect of lean manufacturing (LM) implementation in developing and developed countries, finding that LM improves operational performance for manufacturing organizations but small and medium-sized enterprises may have challenges in transformation. Additionally, no negative impact of LM implementation was reported in manufacturing industries from 2015 to March 2020 in the literature review.

AI based decision making: combining strategies to improve operational performance

Summary: This study investigates the strategic alignment between marketing and information technology (IT) strategies and provides a model for improving operational performance. The results indicate that IT strategy is positively mediated by marketing strategy on performance and the organizational structure moderates the mediation of marketing strategy on performance. The use of a novel three-phase decision-making framework which uses AI processes improves operational efficiency and enhances decision accuracy in industries such as manufacturing.

Success factors for lean six sigma projects in healthcare

Summary: This study was conducted at a large public tertiary healthcare organization to identify critical success factors (CSFs) in implementing Lean Six Sigma (LSS). By analyzing 62 LSS projects completed by Green Belts in consultation with Black Belts, the study identified eight CSFs that are significantly correlated to project success. This research contributes to the literature on management control, operations management, and healthcare by providing valuable insights into CSFs of continuous improvement projects.
