Citizen Science: Schoolteachers' Motivation, Experiences, and Recommendations

Maria Aristeidou et al.

Summary: Citizen science offers teachers and students opportunities to contribute to authentic research, which can be used to improve science education. Previous research has highlighted the potential of citizen science for science education, and more studies provide evidence for the learning outcomes achieved through participation in citizen science projects. However, there has been a lack of broad international research on the expertise of teachers who have already participated in citizen science projects.

Aerodynamics Effect of Holes in UAV Wings Modified for VTOL Capability

Laith S. Sawaqed et al.

Summary: This research explores the possibility of modifying the X8 Skywalker from a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle into a convertiplane. Computational fluid dynamics and wind tunnel experiments were conducted to analyze the performance of different wing configurations. The results indicate that the proposed modifications can generate enough lift despite reducing the wing area, with the filleted hole configuration demonstrating less drag and turbulence effects at low angles of attack.

Dealigned but mobilized? Insights from a citizen science study on youth political engagement

Alice Binder et al.

Summary: Existing research suggests that adolescents have become disconnected from politics, but cognitive mobilization theories propose that they are not inherently disinterested in politics, just seeking new forms of engagement. The study found that adolescents were more interested in and identified with citizen movements, leading to increased likelihood of participation, while traditional political actors failed to meet their identity needs and interests.
