Assessment of impacts of green bonds on renewable energy utilization efficiency

Xiang Ye et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of issued green bonds on the effectiveness of renewable natural resource utilization in 15 selected Asia-Pacific countries during 2012-2021. The results show that green bonds have a positive and statistically significant effect on the efficiency of renewable resource utilization, particularly in the long term. Urbanization has a negative short-term effect but a positive long-term impact on resource utilization efficiency. Inflation rate has a negative effect on renewable resource utilization efficiency. The study recommends implementing measures such as developing the green bonds market, promoting green foreign direct investment, and adopting effective monetary policies to lower inflation rate.

Role of natural resources utilization efficiency in achieving green economic recovery: Evidence from BRICS countries

Linhai Zhao et al.

Summary: The main goal of this article is to evaluate the impact of natural resource utilization efficiency on green economic growth in the BRICS countries. Panel data analysis is used to estimate coefficients and confirm a unidirectional causal relationship from resource utilization efficiency to green economic growth. The results suggest that promoting green FDI, green financing, and implementing the principle of 3Rs are recommended practical policies for achieving green economic growth in the BRICS countries.

Can tourism sustain itself through the pandemic: nexus between tourism, COVID-19 cases and air quality spread in the 'Pineapple State' Hawaii

Yong Yan et al.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the tourism industry in the United States, particularly in Hawaii. The study finds a significant relationship between international tourist arrivals, COVID-19 cases, and air quality in Hawaii, indicating the devastating effects of the pandemic on the state's tourist economy.

Energy consumption, pollution haven hypothesis, and Environmental Kuznets Curve: Examining the environment-economy link in belt and road initiative countries

Wenqing Li et al.

Summary: This paper examines the relationship between the environment and the economy in 89 Belt and Road Initiative countries and tests the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis and the pollution haven hypothesis. The results show an inverse U-shaped relationship between environmental degradation and economic growth. Foreign direct investment generally has a positive impact on environmental quality, but region-specific results vary.

Current and future threats to human health in the Anthropocene

Shilu Tong et al.

Summary: It is widely recognized that global environmental changes pose threats to human health, requiring urgent actions. While there has been significant research progress in areas such as climate change, land-use change, and biodiversity loss over the past three decades, challenges such as misperceptions of the human-nature relationship and compounding risks of GECs remain to be addressed. Rigorous scientific research coordinated across disciplines is necessary to confront these challenges and develop informed policies for a sustainable future.

A panel VAR analysis of macro-financial imbalances in the EU

Mariarosaria Comunale

Summary: This study investigates the interactions between current account misalignments, real effective exchange rate misalignments, and financial gaps among EU countries. The results reveal that in the euro area, the reaction of current account misalignments to a shock in the real effective exchange rate misalignments is the largest. In non-euro area countries and the euro periphery, an increase in current account misalignments leads to a temporary increase in the real effective exchange rate misalignments, amplifying current account fluctuations. Different policies should be applied to different countries to achieve a balanced current account and move closer to the equilibrium level of the real effective exchange rate, considering real and financial fluctuations.

Summary: Improved environmental quality and resource efficiency are important policy plans for emerging economies. This study examines the empirical links between infrastructure development, technological efficiency change, and resource consumption, finding that infrastructure development increases resource consumption, while improving technological efficiency can decrease it.

Role of green finance policy in renewable energy deployment for carbon Evidence from China

Yunpeng Sun et al.

Summary: The research finds that China's green financing policy has achieved certain results in renewable energy deployment and emission reduction, especially in reducing sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and PM2.5. However, the effectiveness in reducing carbon monoxide, ozone, and PM10 is limited. Additionally, the control impacts of the green finance policy are through the economic activities of local enterprises.

On the interdependence between biofuel, fossil fuel and agricultural food prices: Evidence from quantile tests

Seong-Min Yoon

Summary: This study investigates the relationships between fossil fuel, biofuel, and agricultural food commodity prices by applying cointegration and causality analysis methods. The findings suggest that there is an asymmetric and nonlinear causal linkage between these variables. The study's results have important policy implications for energy price stability, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, promoting the agricultural industry, environmental sustainability, energy conversion, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.

The impact of natural resources on green growth: The role of green trade

Xiaoying Xu

Summary: This study investigates the association between resource usage of natural resources and the green growth of China as well as the moderation of green trade. The empirical results reveal that gas and coal have significant impacts on the green growth of the Chinese economy, but there is a negative association between gas and green growth. The study also found that green trade plays an important moderating role in the relationship between natural resources and green growth.

Investigating the EKC hypothesis with renewable energy consumption, human capital, globalization and trade openness for China: Evidence from augmented ARDL approach with a structural break

Ugur Korkut Pata et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of income, human capital, globalization, renewable energy consumption, and trade openness on environmental pollution and ecological footprint in China. The findings revealed a U-shaped quadratic relationship between environmental pollution and income level, with human capital playing a key role in reducing environmental degradation while renewable energy was insufficient to meet environmental requirements. The Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis did not hold for China in this study.
