New Bacillus subtilis Strains Isolated from Prosopis glandulosa Rhizosphere for Suppressing Fusarium Spp. and Enhancing Growth of Gossypium hirsutum L.

Ali Abdelmoteleb et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the growth-promoting effect and biocontrol activity of three Bacillus subtilis strains (LDA-1, LDA-2, and LDA-3) against Fusarium spp. in cotton plants. The results suggest that the antagonism mechanism of Bacillus strains against phytopathogenic Fusarium spp. could be due to the ability of bacterial strains to produce lipopeptides and other molecules with antifungal activities. These Bacillus subtilis strains can be promising biocontrol agents and reduce the use of toxic chemical pesticides in sustainable agricultural systems.

Flooding Tolerance in Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam) Is Mediated by Reactive Oxygen Species and Nitric Oxide

Sul-U Park et al.

Summary: The resistance of sweet potato to flooding stress depends on the regulation of ethylene, reactive oxygen species, and nitric oxide. Flood-tolerant cultivars exhibit higher expression levels and activities of genes related to low oxygen signaling, ROS scavenging, and NO scavenging in the early stage of flooding treatment compared to flood-sensitive cultivars.

Optimization and identification of siderophores produced by Pseudomonas monteilii strain MN759447 and its antagonism toward fungi associated with mortality in Dalbergia sissoo plantation forests

Pragati Srivastava et al.

Summary: This study investigated the bacterial diversity in the Shisham forest ecosystem and explored the siderophore production potential in relation to the dieback and wilt-induced mortality in Dalbergia sissoo plantation forests. The results revealed that Pseudomonas, Burkholderia, and Streptomyces were prominent siderophore-positive bacteria in Shisham forests. Furthermore, the Pseudomonas monteilii strain MN759447 exhibited high siderophore production and antagonistic activity against various pathogens linked to sissoo mortality.

Salinity Stress in Wheat: Effects, Mechanisms and Management Strategies

Mahmoud F. Seleiman et al.

Summary: Salinity stress poses a major threat to global food production, particularly affecting wheat productivity. Understanding wheat behavior to salinity stress is crucial for devising countermeasures, such as selecting suitable cultivars and utilizing management practices like the use of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria to improve wheat performance under salt stress.

Brevundimonas diminuta MYS6 associated Helianthus annuus L. for enhanced copper phytoremediation

Manohari Rathi et al.

Summary: In recent years, natural metal-tolerant microbial populations have replaced conventional expensive metal remediation approaches. This study focused on investigating the potential of a copper-tolerant plant growth-promoting rhizobacterial strain for Cu bioremediation, plant growth promotion, and Cu uptake in sunflowers. The results showed that the rhizobacteria were efficient in copper remediation, promoting plant growth, and enhancing copper uptake in the plants.

The auxin-producing Bacillus thuringiensis RZ2MS9 promotes the growth and modifies the root architecture of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum cv. Micro-Tom)

Bruna Durante Batista et al.

Summary: The Bacillus thuringiensis strain RZ2MS9 can produce auxins that promote plant growth through two pathways for Indole acetic acid (IAA) production. Experimental results demonstrate that the application of this strain significantly increases the shoot dry weight of tomatoes, alters root architecture, and enhances root cell activity at the cellular level.

Field Crop Responses and Management Strategies to Mitigate Soil Salinity in Modern Agriculture: A Review

Hiba M. Alkharabsheh et al.

Summary: The impact of salinity stress varies among different cereal crops, and understanding their resistance mechanisms is crucial for breeding high-yielding adapted varieties. The germination stage is more sensitive to osmotic stress, while salinity stress during the reproductive stage can also decrease crop productivity.
