Chitosan nanoparticles loaded with garlic essential oil: A new alternative to tebuconazole as seed dressing agent

Summary: Garlic essential oil was successfully encapsulated in chitosan nanoparticles in this study, which showed antifungal activity and growth-promoting effects on wheat, oat, and barley. Summary: Essential oils from greater celandine roots and leaves were extracted and loaded into chitosan nanoparticles, with good encapsulation efficiency confirmed. These nanoparticles showed a dose-dependent effect on MCF-7 cell line, with CNPs-GCLEO displaying the highest rate of apoptosis. Encapsulation of GCREO and GCLEO in CNPs proved to be an efficient technique for enhancing their anti-cancer activity against MCF-7 cell line.

Summary: In this study, the inclusion complex of TH/β-CD was synthesized and loaded into CS nanoparticles, resulting in improved solubility and stability of TH. The complexes showed antibacterial effects against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and exhibited better antioxidant activities compared to pure TH.

Summary: In this study, successful modification of chitosan film using magnetic-silica nanocomposite to encapsulate turmeric essential oil for enhanced preservation of surimi was performed. The addition of nanocomposite significantly improved the physical and mechanical properties of the film. The bio-nanocomposite film showed sustained release of the essential oil, effectively controlling microbial contamination and extending the shelf life of surimi.

Protein complex nanoparticles reinforced with industrial hemp essential oil: Characterization and application for shelf-life extension of Rainbow trout fillets

Summary: In this study, essential oil of industrial hemp was reinforced in a complex of whey protein nanofibrils and mung bean protein nanoparticles, creating a novel nano-carrier. The results showed that the reinforced nano-carrier effectively inhibited bacterial growth and extended the shelf life of fish products. Therefore, it can be suggested as a natural preservative for coating fishes.

Summary: This study aimed to explore a new pathway for developing active packaging materials by loading thyme essential oil into electrospun PLA nanofibers and coating them with PVA/PEG blends. The results showed excellent hydrophilicity and antibacterial activities of the packaging film, with controlled release rate of thyme essential oil based on humidity levels.

The study showed that the designed structures could be used as edible coatings and bio-preservatives for perishable food products.

Summary: In this study, highly efficient antimicrobial wound dressings were obtained by blending PCL with AuNPs and SNE using the electrospinning method. Characterization of the nanofibers revealed that blending PCL with AuNPs resulted in smooth surface fibers, while the addition of SNE led to a rough surface, indicating good antimicrobial properties in the developed nanofibers.
