Decomposition of benzene vapour using non-thermal plasmas: The effect of moisture content on eliminating solid residue

Usman H. Dahiru et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of power, carrier gases, and moisture content on the removal of benzene in a plasma reactor. It was found that benzene removal efficiency increased with power, and CO2 selectivity also increased in humidified air. Solid residue formation in the reactor could be eliminated in humidified air.

Non-thermal plasma by positive corona glow discharge using nano-structured Cu/CuO coated electrodes for benzene removal from air flow; removal enhancement and energy efficiency improvement

Roohollah Rostami et al.

Summary: The study found that in positive discharge non-thermal plasma, using Cu-coated stainless steel electrodes can achieve higher benzene removal efficiency and energy efficiency. Compared to not-coated Cu and CuO electrodes, the Cu-coated reactor also showed a higher ozone destruction rate.

Catalytic oxidation of toluene in air using manganese incorporated catalyst by non-thermal plasma system

Xiao Zhang et al.

Summary: Mn/MCM-41 and imp-Mn/MCM-41 catalysts were prepared through metal heteroatom substitution and impregnation methods, and their catalytic oxidation performance of toluene under NTP was studied. Optimization of catalyst stability and oxidation conditions parameters was conducted, showing that the 60Mn/MCM41 catalyst exhibited high catalytic activity.

Removal of toluene as a toxic VOC from methane gas using a non-thermal plasma dielectric barrier discharge reactor

Faisal Saleem et al.

Summary: This study focused on the removal of toxic compound (toluene) from methane gas using a dielectric barrier discharge reactor, with maximum removal efficiency of 85.9% achieved at 40W and 2.86s. The major gaseous products were H-2 and lower hydrocarbons, with their yield increasing with input power, indicating decomposition of toxic compounds and methane for production.

A comparison of the decomposition of biomass gasification tar compound in CO, CO2, H2 and N2 carrier gases using non-thermal plasma

Faisal Saleem et al.

Summary: This study investigated the comparative decomposition of toluene using a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) reactor, focusing on the impact of different carrier gases (N-2, H-2, CO2, and CO) on toluene removal. Results showed that the highest toluene removal rate of 89.1% was achieved when using N-2 as the carrier gas, while the lowest removal rate of 62.5% was observed when using CO as the carrier gas.

Removal of cyclohexane as a toxic pollutant from air using a non-thermal plasma: Influence of different parameters

Usman H. Dahiru et al.

Summary: This study showed that the efficiency of cyclohexane removal can be increased by optimizing specific input energy and residence time, while humidifying the air can prevent the formation of solid residues in the reactor.
