Natural Occurring Phenolic Derivatives from Mauritia flexuosa (Buriti) Stems and Their Potential Antibacterial Activity against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)

Djalma Menezes de Oliveira et al.

Summary: This study isolated new phenolic compounds from the CH2Cl2 fraction of Mauritia flexuosa stems and demonstrated their antimicrobial activity against methicillin-susceptible and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The results suggest that these compounds contribute to the traditional use of this palm species in Brazilian traditional medicine.
