Evaluation of Allelopathic Potentials from Medicinal Plant Species in Phnom Kulen National Park, Cambodia by the Sandwich Method

Yourk Sothearith et al.

Summary: Phnom Kulen National Park in Cambodia is rich in biodiversity and medicinal value, with 195 medicinal plant species collected for allelopathic potential evaluation. Among them, 58 species showed significant inhibitory effects on lettuce radicle elongation, with three species exhibiting strong inhibition of less than 10% of the control. These results could serve as a benchmark for the isolation and identification of allelochemicals in medicinal plants used in Cambodia.

The p53/p21/p16 and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways are involved in the ameliorative effects of maltol on D-galactose-induced liver and kidney aging and injury

Ji-yue Sha et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that maltol can improve aging-induced liver and kidney injuries by activating certain proteins and antioxidant enzymes to reduce oxidative stress injury. Maltol also improves oxidative stress injury by activating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.
