Summary: The concept of cyberdelics emerged in the 1980s and 1990s as a connection between cybernetic technologies and psychedelic drugs. Cyberdelic technologies, particularly virtual reality, were seen as a new era of digital mind-expansion. After a decline, cyberdelic culture has recently returned due to a resurgence in psychedelics and interest in virtual reality. However, cyberdelic technologies challenge current societal and economic arrangements. Research on psychedelics in the humanities has highlighted the role of cultural set and setting, and this paper seeks to explore what psychedelics can teach us about cyberdelics.

Summary: The resurgence of Western psychedelic research and practice has raised concerns from Indigenous Nations about cultural appropriation, lack of recognition of sacred cultural positioning, exclusionary practices, and patenting of traditional medicines. An Indigenous-led global group formulated ethical guidelines for the use of traditional Indigenous medicines in Western psychedelic research and practice. A consensus process identified eight interconnected ethical principles, including Reverence, Respect, Responsibility, Relevance, Regulation, Reparation, Restoration, and Reconciliation. This summary presents the work and suggests ethical actions for Western psychedelic research and practice spaces.

Summary: Emerging research suggests that psychedelic experiences can influence users' religious or metaphysical beliefs. This paper critiques Wayne Glausser's recent arguments and explores the issue of psychedelic-induced belief change. The studies discussed provide stronger evidence for the deconversion of atheists than Glausser suggests, and his critiques against the Metaphysical Belief Theory involve scientifically questionable claims and inferences.

Summary: Recent research has shown the therapeutic potential of psychedelics in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addictions, leading to decriminalization and legalization in some regions. However, Indigenous Peoples have not benefited from this resurgence, while others profit from speculative investments. This paper argues that the psychedelic renaissance, like the European Renaissance, is enabled by colonial extractivism and proposes alternative approaches from Indigenous philosophical traditions for a more equitable future.

Summary: The study compared the efficacy of psilocybin and escitalopram in treating patients with major depressive disorder. While there was no significant difference in antidepressant effects between the two drugs at week 6, secondary outcomes generally favored psilocybin over escitalopram, though these results were not adjusted for multiple comparisons. Larger and longer trials are needed to further compare psilocybin with established antidepressants.

Summary: The surveys and clinical trials indicate that the popular inferences linking psychedelic drug use with changes in atheism beliefs and depression relief are misleading. Most psychedelic atheists do not completely abandon their former convictions, and there is strong evidence that they do not adopt traditional monotheistic beliefs. Additionally, the idea that psychedelic drugs cure depression by curing atheism is complicated by personal testimonies and the results of microdose clinical trials. The broader field of neurotheology also contributes to these popular misconceptions.
