Nurses Burnout, Resilience, and Its Association With Socio-Demographic Factors During COVID-19 Pandemic

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between resilience and burnout in nurses. The findings showed that nurses experienced severe symptoms of burnout and had a moderate level of resilience. Emotional exhaustion and personal accomplishment were significantly negatively correlated with resilience. Demographic characteristics were found to be major predictors of burnout sub-categories. There was a significant negative correlation between burnout and resilience, highlighting the role of resilience in reducing burnout.

Helping While Social Distancing: Pathogen Avoidance Motives Influence People's Helping Intentions during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Summary: The study explores how pathogen avoidance motives impact people's helping behavior during the pandemic. Results show that pathogen disgust sensitivity negatively affects intentions to perform voluntary work with social contact but has no influence on intentions for socially distanced voluntary work. Moreover, the influence of pathogen disgust sensitivity on socially distanced volunteering preference is mediated by the state anxiety experienced by individuals during the pandemic.
