Integrated analysis of transcriptome and metabolome data reveals insights for molecular mechanisms in overwintering Tibetan frogs, Nanorana parkeri

Yonggang Niu et al.

Summary: In this study, a comprehensive transcriptomic and metabolomic analysis of N. parkeri was conducted, revealing altered energy metabolism and gene expression in overwintering frogs compared to summer-active ones. Up-regulated genes mainly participated in signal transduction and immune responses, while down-regulated genes were mainly involved in metabolic processes. Additionally, differentially expressed metabolites were mainly involved in amino acid biosynthesis and metabolism. These findings enhance our understanding of winter survival mechanisms in amphibians.

Physiological and Biochemical Adaptations to High Altitude in Tibetan Frogs, Nanorana parkeri

Yonggang Niu et al.

Summary: This study found that the Xizang plateau frog exhibits stronger hematological adaptation, less oxidative damage, and stronger antioxidant defenses in high-altitude environments. These adaptations contribute to increased survival in high-altitude conditions.
