Enzyme-responsive hydrogels, in particular, have attracted much interest due to their ability to respond to various enzymes under mild conditions, leading to reversible or irreversible changes in their properties. This article reviews the current state of enzyme-responsive hydrogels designed for controlled drug delivery systems, including the enzymes used for their preparation and the strategies employed to produce them.
