A 3D hierarchical network derived from 2D Fe-doped NiSe nanosheets/carbon nanotubes with enhanced OER performance for overall water splitting

Summary: A novel high-performance electrocatalyst was developed in this study, with Fe doping and synergistic effects between 2D NSs and CNTs significantly enhancing oxygen evolution activity and electrical conductivity. The catalyst only requires an overpotential of 282.7 mV to achieve 10 mA cm(-2) in 1.0 M KOH electrolyte. This achievement indicates a prospective catalyst for enhancing OER in overall water splitting applications.

By constructing tremella-like Ni3S2@RuO2 and Ni3S2@NiFeOOH heterostructures on Ni foams, top-level hydrogen evolution reaction electrocatalysis and remarkable oxygen evolution reaction electrocatalysis have been achieved. The electron transfer from Ni3S2 to RuO2 in the heterostructure facilitates enhanced hydrogen evolution reaction on Ni3S2@RuO2.
