Rheological Characteristics of Ionic Liquids under Nanoconfinement

Mengwei Han et al.

Summary: This study conducted frequency-sweep oscillatory-shear rheology on IL nanofilms for the first time, reconciling the debate on their solid-vs-liquid behavior and revealing the significance of shear rate. The viscoelasticity of nanoconfined ILs were analyzed, shedding light on their relaxation mechanisms. A master curve was obtained to describe the scaling of dynamic behavior of ILs under nanoconfinement, indicating the role of flow unit compressibility.

Synthesis, fabrication and properties research of CS-mPEG-AN nanocomposite

KangRui Wang et al.

Summary: A novel nanocomposite CS-mPEG-AN based on 3-(9-Anthryl)acrolein (AN) grafted onto mPEG-OOH carboxlyated Chitosan was prepared and characterized. The composite showed regular ellipsoid shapes and its fluorescent effect could be quenched by carbon nanotubes. Nanoparticles of CS-mPEG-AN obtained by direct drying had cubic shapes and exhibited good drug encapsulation and release efficiency. Therefore, the proposed composite and nanoparticles have potential applications in photoelectron transfer and drug delivery.

Vanillin downregulates NNMT and attenuates NNMT-related resistance to 5-fluorouracil via ROS-induced cell apoptosis in colorectal cancer cells

Guoli Li et al.

Summary: The study found that vanillin can reverse the drug resistance of tumor cells to 5-Fu by inhibiting NNMT expression and promoting cell apoptosis. In vivo experiments showed a significant synergy in inhibiting tumor growth and inducing apoptosis when vanillin was used in combination with 5-Fu.

Quantitatively unravel the effect of chain length heterogeneity on polymer crystallization using discrete oligo L-lactide

Dongdong Zhou et al.

Summary: This study precisely controlled chain length heterogeneity using a library of discrete oligo L-lactide (oLLA) and investigated the crystallization behavior of binary blends. Partial segregation occurs when chain length heterogeneity is significant, and co-crystals consisting of non-uniform chains are metastable.

pH responsive release of paclitaxel by self-assembling Chitosan-ethyl vanillin@GNRs nanocomposites

Ying Fang et al.

Summary: Carboxylation of chitosan and ethyl vanillin led to the formation of EV-CMCS, which was then used to create EV-CMCS@GNRs nanocomposites for PTX loading and release. The presence of a broken Schiff base under acidic conditions increased the CMC of EV-CMCS@GNRs, offering a new approach for delivering paclitaxel for tumor therapy.

Molecular self-assembly under nanoconfinement: indigo carmine scroll structures entrapped within polymeric capsules

Inbal Maor et al.

Summary: The study explores the self-assembly of molecules within nanoconfined spaces, revealing that confinement can lead to the formation of tubular scroll-like structures. Through cryo-TEM and cryo-ET analysis, the material properties of confined nanosheets are estimated using continuum theory and molecular modeling. Understanding the formation mechanism and forces governing self-assembly under nanoconfinement is crucial for controlling material properties.
