GC/MS Analyses of the Essential Oils Obtained from Different Jatropha Species, Their Discrimination Using Chemometric Analysis and Assessment of Their Antibacterial and Anti-Biofilm Activities

Mariam I. Gamal El-Din et al.

Summary: Gas Chromatography coupled with Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) analyses were used to analyze the essential oils of Jatropha intigrimma, J. roseae, and J. gossypifolia. A total of 95 volatile constituents were identified, with each species showing different compositions. The essential oil from J. gossypifolia exhibited the most potent antimicrobial activity, while J. intigrimma essential oil showed the most potent biofilm inhibitory activity.

Ethosomes as Nanocarriers for the Development of Skin Delivery Formulations

Ana Claudia Paiva-Santos et al.

Summary: The use of nanotechnology in developing efficient drug delivery systems, such as ethosomes, which contain a high concentration of ethanol, has unique advantages in enhancing drug permeation across the skin. Ethosomes show promise as an alternative to traditional liposomes for delivering therapeutic agents for various skin pathologies, with potential applications in acne, psoriasis, alopecia, skin infections, hormonal deficiencies, among others. Further research is needed to fully explore the potential of ethosomal-based formulations in skin delivery of active ingredients.
