Optimized Production of Medically Significant Enzyme L-Asparaginase Under Submerged and Solid-State Fermentation From Agricultural Wastes

Archana Vimal et al.

Summary: L-asparaginase has prime medical significance due to its chemotherapeutic applications and wide range of action. Fungi can be used to produce L-asparaginase to overcome the side effects caused by bacterial strains. This study explored the enhanced production of L-asparaginase using Penicillium lilacinum through statistically optimized fermentation approaches. The results showed that both submerged and solid-state fermentation conditions can lead to increased enzyme production. The study suggested that P. lilacinum can efficiently produce L-asparaginase under optimized solid-state fermentation conditions.
