Microflora communities which can convert digested sludge to biogas

Ayaka Kon et al.

Summary: This study successfully cultured microflora communities utilizing digested sludge (DS) for biogas production, with high methane and hydrogen yields from soil-derived microbes, and lower yields from herbivore dung-derived microfloras. The microfloras included representatives from different bacterial genera and operated through syntrophic acetate oxidation and hydrogentrophic methanogenesis pathways.
