Efficient nitrogen removal of a novel Pseudomonas chengduensis strain BF6 mainly through assimilation in the recirculating aquaculture systems

Mengmeng Yi et al.

Summary: A highly efficient bacterium, Pseudomonas chengduensis BF6, was isolated from biofilters of recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) and found to be capable of removing nitrogen through denitrification, anammox, and assimilation pathways. The strain BF6 exhibited maximum total nitrogen removal efficiencies of 97.00%, 61.40%, 79.10%, and 84.98% for ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, and mixed nitrogen sources, respectively, within 24 hours. Furthermore, BF6 altered microbial diversity and increased the relative abundance of Pseudomonas in the RAS biofilter.

Nitrite is reduced by nitrite reductase NirB without small subunit NirD in Escherichia coli

Hilal Yilmaz et al.

Summary: The assimilatory nitrite reductase enzyme NirB and its small subunit NirD were studied in Escherichia coli, revealing that the presence of NirD increased the catalytic activity of NirB. The optimal temperature and pH for enzyme activity were determined to be 37 degrees C and 7.0, respectively. Additionally, the presence of cadmium ions protected the enzyme and enhanced its activity under certain conditions.

Characterization and mechanism analysis of tylosin biodegradation and simultaneous ammonia nitrogen removal with strain Klebsiella pneumoniae TN-1

Bo Zhang et al.

Summary: Strain TN-1, isolated from tylosin fermentation dregs, exhibited high efficiency in degrading tylosin and removing ammonia nitrogen. The identified biodegradation pathways involved desugarization and hydrolysis, leading to removal of tylosin and ammonia nitrogen. Moreover, TN-1 was able to reduce nitrogen loss by transforming ammonium into nitrate nitrogen and decrease ammonia volatilization effectively.
