C60 nanowire two-state resistance switching: fabrication and electrical characterizations

Kazuhito Tsukagoshi et al.

Summary: Researchers demonstrate an experimental demonstration of applying newly discovered nanomaterials as elements in new functional electronics. They successfully fabricate a two-terminal device based on the motion property of a single fullerene molecule, which can operate at room temperature and perform repetitive switch operations.

Light-intensity-dependent photoresponse time of organic photodetectors and its molecular origin

Chiara Labanti et al.

Summary: This study investigates the light-intensity-dependent photoresponse time of organic photodetectors (OPDs) with two small-molecule donors co-evaporated with C-60 acceptors. The MPTA:C-60 blend shows the fastest response time at high-light intensities, but the slowest response at low-light intensities, potentially due to the presence of deep trap states. The disrupted molecular packing and HOMO level shift caused by C-60 contribute to the energetic inhomogeneity and limit the low-light photoresponse time.

Stable Resistance Switching in Lu3N@C80 Nanowires Promoted by the Endohedral Effect: Implications for Single-Fullerene Motion Resistance Switching

Yukiya Umeta et al.

Summary: Fullerenes are spherical clusters composed entirely of carbon atoms with an inner space that can accommodate atoms or small molecules, forming endohedral fullerenes. Endohedral fullerenes can modify the electronic state of the carbon cage and function as tiny electronic units. Lu3N@C-80 nanowires exhibited negative differential resistance in current-voltage measurements.

Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Stimulated by Strong Metal-Molecule Interactions in a C60 Single-Molecule Junction

Koji Yasuraoka et al.

Summary: This study utilized surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) signals to detect local structural changes in the metal-molecule interaction within a C60 single-molecule junction (SMJ). The analysis revealed vibration energy shifts originating from different Au-C60 interactions, indicating that the probability of SERS was enhanced depending on these local structural changes.

Molecular engineering for high-performance fullerene broadband photodetectors

Mingming Su et al.

Summary: By combining the donor molecule nickel tetraphenylporphyrin (NiTPP) with fullerene through molecular engineering, a broadband photodetector with extended absorption wavelength range was fabricated. Large-area nickel porphyrin-fullerene (NiTPP-C-60) single-crystal arrays were prepared using a liquid-bridge induced assembly method, demonstrating improved performance of the photodetector.

C60-Nanowire Two-State Resistance Switching Based on Fullerene Polymerization/Depolymerization

Yukiya Umeta et al.

Summary: The study presents the principle experiment for driving a single-fullerene switch using a self-assembling fullerene nanowire. The C60 nanowire exhibited negative differential resistance (NDR) and two-state resistance switching, which was generated by local polymerization and depolymerization among the C60 molecules.
