Defects mediated optical emissions and efficient photodetection characteristics of sol-gel derived Ag-doped ZnO nanostructures for UV sensor

Sheo K. Mishra et al.

Summary: The study reveals that Ag-doped ZnO NPs can effectively enhance defect-mediated visible emissions and suggest that Ag doping may result in red-shift of UV peak. Pure ZnO exhibits anomalous UV sensing, while Ag-doped ZnO NPs do not have this characteristic. ZnO NPs doped with 7 wt% Ag demonstrate efficient UV photoresponsive behavior.

ZnO and Ni-doped ZnO photocatalysts: Synthesis, characterization and improved visible light driven photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue

Iqbal Ahmad et al.

Summary: In this study, nickel-modified zinc oxide (ZnO) photocatalysts were synthesized using a wet chemical approach. The properties of the photocatalysts were investigated using optical and structural characterization techniques. It was found that the introduction of nickel shifted the band gap of ZnO nanocatalysts to a lower wavelength and improved the photocatalytic activity.

Designing of highly active g-C3N4/Ni-ZnO photocatalyst nanocomposite for the disinfection and degradation of the organic dye under sunlight radiations

Muhammad Azam Qamar et al.

Summary: An efficient photocatalytic composite Ni/ZnO/g-C3N4 was successfully synthesized through a cost-effective chemical co-precipitation method. The composite demonstrated superior bactericidal and photocatalytic properties under solar radiations, attributed to the combined effects of Ni/ZnO and g-C3N4, as well as the stability provided by the Ni atoms. This makes the NiZG composite a practical candidate for environmental remediation applications.
