The Quality of Small Social Networks and Their Performance in Architecture Design Offices

Tito Castillo et al.

Summary: Within the construction industry, the ability of information to flow in design offices is crucial for their performance. This research aimed to find a metric to assess the quality of social networks in design offices based on information flow and performance. Through analyzing the organizational structures of six architecture design firms, relevant correlations were obtained between the proposed indicator and project design efficiency.

Using motifs in ecological networks to identify the role of plants in crop margins for multiple agriculture functions

Julia Tavella et al.

Summary: Advances in network ecology provide new tools for sustainable management of agroecosystems. This study explores the use of motifs in agricultural ecological networks to identify key plant species in field margins. The findings support the use of motifs in multi-trophic interaction networks to reveal the role of key plant species in sustaining ecological functions involving crops and other plant species.

Motif discovery based traffic pattern mining in attributed road networks

Guojiang Shen et al.

Summary: With the development of intelligent transportation systems, clustering methods have gained significant attention for traffic pattern recognition in road networks. However, the complex relationships among different segments in road networks have been overlooked. To address this issue, this study proposes a clustering method for motif-based attributed road networks and demonstrates its superiority through experiments.

Study on the Improvement Strategy of Trust Level between Owner and PMC Contractor Based on System Dynamics Model

Hongyan Li et al.

Summary: This study, based on the theory of system dynamics, investigates the factors influencing the trust relationship between owners and PMC contractors in a Chinese management scenario and proposes effective management strategies to increase trust between the parties. The study finds that the importance of calculative trust and relational trust varies at different stages of project implementation and that the applicability of the PMC model and the control configuration between the owner and the PMC contractor are vital factors influencing the trust level.

Effect of Behavior Tension on Value Creation in Owner-Contractor Relationships: Moderating Role of Dependence Asymmetry

Qinzhen Qian et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of behavior tension on value creation in owner-contractor partnerships, revealing an inverse U-shaped relationship between the two. The findings suggest that a balance between cooperation and competition, rather than one behavior alone, is beneficial for creating greater value.

Collaboration Networks and Bidding Competitiveness in Megaprojects

Yujie Lu et al.

Summary: The study analyzes the bidding competitiveness and network evolution of a Chinese zone development project, finding that contractors and designers with higher normalized degree centralities and larger K-core values are more likely to win project tenders competitively, while owners tend to choose returning partners, especially designers, as collaborators for future projects. This research enriches the existing literature on bidding competitiveness in megaprojects, providing insights into collaboration and competition mechanisms and offering effective strategies for establishing relational contracts in megaprojects.
