Poly(disulfide)s: From Synthesis to Drug Delivery

Ruhe Zhang et al.

Summary: Bioresponsive polymers, such as poly(disulfide)s, are widely used in drug delivery due to their degradability and responsiveness to stimuli. Various synthesis methods and design strategies have been developed to create versatile platforms for on-demand drug delivery using poly(disulfide)s. The dynamic and reversible nature of disulfide bonds make them ideal for the controlled release of small-molecule or biomacromolecular drugs.

Dihydroxy terminated teroligomers from morpholine-2,5-diones

Xiao Liang et al.

Summary: Oligodepsipeptides (ODPs) serve as degradable materials for controlled drug delivery and building blocks for nano-carriers. In this study, dihydroxy terminated ter-oligodepsipeptides (ter-ODPs) were synthesized by ring-opening copolymerization (ROP) to provide a set of teroligomers with structural variation for drug release or transfection. The composition and glass-transition temperature of ter-ODPs could be controlled by adjusting the feed ratio of co-monomers.

Development of self-degradable aliphatic polyesters by embedding lipases via melt extrusion

QiuYuan Huang et al.

Summary: Multiple lipases were embedded in aliphatic biodegradable polyesters, leading to enzymatic self-degradation of composite films in buffered solutions. The study demonstrated the potential of using embedded enzymes to achieve self-degradable polymers, offering a solution to environmental issues associated with plastic waste.
