In situ localization of BiVO4 onto two-dimensional MXene promoting photoelectrochemical nitrogen reduction to ammonia

Demei Zhang et al.

Summary: In this work, BiVO4@MXene hybrids were synthesized by a hydrothermal route, and the heterojunctions formed greatly improved the efficiency of NRR. The optimized NH3 yield and Faraday efficiency under photoelectric conditions were higher than most state-of-the-art NRR electrocatalysts. The enhanced light absorption range and heterojunction formation were speculated to promote the separation and transfer efficiency of photogenerated carriers, thereby enhancing the PEC catalytic ability.

Toward photocatalytic hydrogen generation over BiVO4 by controlling particle size

Mengdi Sun et al.

Summary: Nano-sized BiVO4 with particle size ranged from 27 nm to 57 nm was successfully synthesized in this work, showing enhanced activity for hydrogen generation by water splitting compared to bulk BiVO4. The improvements in activity are mainly attributed to the reduced particle size, resulting in elevated conduction band, enlarged specific surface area, and promoted charge separation.

Oxygen Vacancies Enhanced WO3/BiVO4 Photoanodes Modified by Cobalt Phosphate for Efficient Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting

Jianqiao Liu et al.

Summary: An oxygen vacancy-enriched WO3/BiVO4 photoanode modified with CoPi cocatalysts has been developed for significant enhancement in PEC performances. Experimental results and theoretical calculations show that oxygen vacancies can improve charge transfer between semiconductor interfaces, tune electronic structure, decrease energy barriers, and enhance hydrophilic ability of the electrode, leading to highly efficient water splitting systems.

Nanosized BaSnO3 as Electron Transport Promoter Coupled with g-C3N4 toward Enhanced Photocatalytic H2 Production

Xing Kang et al.

Summary: A series of type-II BaSnO3/g-C3N4 heterojunction composites have been prepared using a facile solvothermal method, with BaSnO3 acting as an electron transport promoter for photocatalytic H-2 production under visible light for the first time. BaSnO3 demonstrates excellent performance in collecting and transferring photogenerated electrons, leading to effective inhibition of electron-hole recombination and significantly enhancing the photocatalytic H-2 production activity of the composite compared to pristine g-C3N4. This study provides valuable insights for utilizing electron transport materials in photocatalysis.
