Novel Impregnation-Deposition Method to Synthesize a Presulfided MoS2/Al2O3 Catalyst and Its Application in Hydrodesulfurization

Xuehui Li et al.

Summary: A novel impregnation-deposition method was used to prepare MoS2/Al2O3 catalysts for hydrodesulfurization. This method improved the surface area of the catalysts by eliminating micropores in the support and adding mesostructured MoS2 particles. The catalysts synthesized by this method exhibited higher reaction conversion rates and hydrogenation/direct-desulfurization ratios compared to those prepared by the conventional impregnation method.

Size and shape control of CVD-grown monolayer MoS2

Yong Jin Cho et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of sulfur concentration on the size and shape change of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) thin film using a gradient method during chemical vapor deposition. The results show that as sulfur concentration decreases, the shape of the film changes from triangle to hexagon, and then back to triangle. The uniformity and crystal quality of the CVD-grown MoS2 are analyzed using optical microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, photoluminescence, circularly polarized photoluminescence, and atomic force microscopy.

Large and Uniform Single Crystals of MoS2 Monolayers for ppb-Level NO2 Sensing

Chandrabhan Patel et al.

Summary: There has been great interest recently in synthesizing two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides using the chemical vapor deposition system. In this study, a viable recipe for controlling the nucleation density of Mo and producing large-sized MoS2 monolayer films was proposed. The sensing performance of the MoS2 monolayer for NO2 exposure was thoroughly investigated, and it showed ultrasensitive detection capabilities.

Van der Waals Epitaxial Trilayer MoS2 Crystals for High-Speed Electronics

Xuefei Li et al.

Summary: This study successfully demonstrates the growth of controllable trilayer MoS2 with high mobility and large single crystals on glass substrates. Trilayer MoS2 FETs exhibit higher on/off ratio and carrier mobility compared to monolayer MoS2, and can mitigate the performance degradation caused by metal contact. The use of ultrathin HfLaO dielectrics as the insulating layer between two metal layers leads to higher current and electron saturation velocity.

Selective Growth and Robust Valley Polarization of Bilayer 3R-MoS2

Farman Ullah et al.

Summary: Noncentrosymmetric transition-metal dichalcogenides, especially the 3R polymorphs, provide a strong platform for valleytronics. Selective growth of MoS2 monolayers and bilayers from differently oriented substrates in a chemical vapor deposition reactor revealed that the as-grown bilayers are predominantly 3R type, showing significantly higher valley polarization compared to the more common 2H type.

Summary: The study reveals that the adsorption of NO gas on monolayer, bilayer, and trilayer MoS2 is weak physical adsorption, leading to the generation of new impurity states in the band gap and affecting the transport properties of the MoS2 layers. Theoretical analysis shows the impact of NO adsorption on electrical conductivity, providing a theoretical basis for the application of MoS2 layers as gas sensors for detecting NO pollutants in the air.
