Patterns and outcomes of zone 3 REBOA use in the management of severe pelvic fractures: Results from the AAST Aortic Occlusion for Resuscitation in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery database

Melike Harfouche et al.

Summary: This study aimed to describe clinical outcomes based on number and types of interventions after zone 3 resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) deployment. Increasing number of interventions were associated with higher transfusion and complication rates, while pelvic packing combined with angioembolization was associated with increased acute kidney injury.

Pelvic packing and angio-embolization after blunt pelvic trauma: a retrospective 18-year analysis

Dennis Hundersmarcka et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of two different treatment strategies for pelvic trauma-related hemorrhage. The results showed that primary PPP treatment in hemodynamically unstable patients may lead to a higher rate of exsanguination-related deaths, while primary TAE appears to be an effective and safe adjunct for (minor) pelvic hemorrhage in hemodynamically stable patients.
