Photothermal Hyperthermia Study of Ag/Ni and Ag/Fe Plasmonic Particles Synthesized Using Dual-Pulsed Laser

Photothermal Therapy with HER2-Targeted Silver Nanoparticles Leading to Cancer Remission

Summary: The study presents the promising use of silver nanoparticles with localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) phenomenon for targeted photothermal cancer therapy. These 35 nm HER2-targeted Ag NPs were synthesized using an aqueous extract of Lavandula angustifolia Mill, and demonstrated effective tumor treatment through hyperthermia after light irradiation. The Ag NPs were conjugated with affibody Z(HER2:342) polypeptide to target HER2-overexpressing cells, showing successful binding and internalization. Cytotoxicity assays showed effective cell death through reactive oxygen species production, and in vivo experiments resulted in complete tumor regression and prevention of metastasis.

Investigating the Photothermal Disinfecting Properties of Light-Activated Silver Nanoparticles

Summary: The use of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) for photothermal disinfection of PPE has shown promising results in deactivating the SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. The AgNP/protectant composites demonstrated monodisperse spherical particles of 5-10 nm in diameter, activated by blue light-emitting diodes to elevate surface temperatures up to 150 degrees C. The photothermal activation was found to be highly efficient and durable over long periods of exposure, with potential improvement in washing resistance through chitosan cross-linking.

Synthesis of Ag/Co nanoparticles by dual pulsed laser ablation for synergistic photothermal study

Summary: Magneto-plasmonic Ag/Co nanomaterials were prepared using a dual-beam approach for photothermal performance evaluation, showing higher temperatures compared to water alone during 808 nm laser irradiation, with the main constituents being Ag/Co.These results suggest that the composite structures of silver and cobalt nanomaterials could significantly enhance hyperthermia using an effective and simple synthesis method.
