Multiobjective optimization of 3-DOF magnetic bearing considering eddy current effects and saturation

Chunmin Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, a multiobjective optimization design method is proposed for three-degrees-of-freedom hybrid magnetic bearings (3-DOF HMBs) with complex three-dimensional magnetic fields. The method aims to maximize the axial and radial bearing capacity while minimizing the cost. By considering eddy current and saturation effects using a dynamic magnetic circuit model, the optimized parameters are determined and experimentally validated. The results demonstrate significant improvements in the optimized design.

Vibration Control of a Time-Delayed Rotor-Active Magnetic Bearing System by Time-Varying Stiffness

Guorong Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the vibration control of a rotor-AMB system with time delay. Nonlinear vibration equation is derived and multiple scales method is applied to obtain approximate solutions. The results show that the vibration amplitude and stable region are periodic with respect to time delay, and the period is equal to the rotating period of the rotor. Eccentricity-response curves are constructed to illustrate the effectiveness of time-varying stiffness control.

Nonlinear resonance characteristics of a dual-rotor system with a local defect on the inner ring of the inter-shaft bearing

Haiming Yi et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the nonlinear resonance characteristics of a dual-rotor system with a local defect on the inner ring of the inter-shaft bearing. The abnormal resonance peaks are caused by combined resonance related to the inner ring fault and the rotational speed of rotors, as well as induced resonance of the inner ring fault. Changes in defect parameters, rotors and support parameters, and inter-shaft bearing parameters lead to corresponding changes in the system's resonance behavior.

Nonlinear dynamic simulation and parametric analysis of a rotor-AMB-TDB system experiencing strong base shock excitations

Yixin Su et al.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamic analysis of a rotor-AMB-TDB system experiencing strong base shocks while the active magnetic bearings (AMBs) are in operation. Different rotor motion modes post-base shocks were observed through numerical solutions and various analysis methods, revealing the possible complex nonlinear responses due to inappropriate system parameters.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of Alford force on a permanent magnet turbo-expander/generator supported by active magnetic bearings. The results show that adjusting the control parameters can mitigate the impact of Alford force, with particular attention needed on the differential coefficient.

Dynamic behavior and stability of energy efficient electro-magnetic suspension of rotors involving time delay

Tukesh Soni et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the stability of dynamic magnetic bearings with constant time delay in the application of high-speed rotor shafts. By comparing the performance of PID and FE control laws, analyzing the system stability, and validating with experimental and numerical simulation results, it shows promise in achieving higher spin speeds and relaxed sampling constraints for AMB systems, with potential applications in designing flywheel energy storage systems for electric vehicles.
