Variations in cumulative workload and anaerobic power in adolescent elite male football players: associations with biological maturation

Hadi Nobari et al.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the relationship between maturity status and training intensity in young football players. The results showed a positive correlation between peak height velocity (PHV) and anaerobic power in the early- and end-season stages, as well as an absolute correlation between maturity offset and anaerobic power. The findings suggest that coaches can enhance the physical performance of players by monitoring training loads and maturity status.

Relationships between training load, peak height velocity, muscle soreness and fatigue status in elite-level young soccer players: a competition season study

Hadi Nobari et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare training load parameters, delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), and fatigue status between season periods (1(st) and 2(nd) halves) in U14 soccer players and to analyze the relationships between training load parameters based on season periods (1(st) and 2(nd) halves) with peak height velocity (PHV), DOMS, and fatigue status in under-14 (U14) young elite soccer players. Additionally, it was intended to analyze if fatigue, DOMS and PHV could explain training load parameters across the season.

Associations between bio-motor ability, endocrine markers and hand-specific anthropometrics in elite female futsal players: a pilot study

Farid Farhani et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between the 2D:4D ratio of dominant and non-dominant hands and physical performance, functional variables, and hormone concentrations in elite female futsal players. The results showed significant correlations between 2D:4D ratio and test time, performance time, hand-grip strength, and aerobic power. Cortisol also displayed a significant correlation with 2D:4D ratio. These findings suggest that the 2D:4D ratio could be an important factor in determining performance attributes and talent identification in elite female futsal players.

Does maturity estimation, 2D:4D and training load measures explain physical fitness changes of youth football players?

Rui Miguel Silva et al.

Summary: The present study aimed to analyze the physical fitness changes of youth football players after a full season and examine whether these changes are explainable by estimated maturity status, 2D:4D ratio, and training load measures. The results showed that the maturity offset and 2D:4D measures have the potential to predict changes in change of direction performance in youth football players.

The associations between digit ratio, aerobic fitness, physical skills, and overall physical fitness of elite youth distance runners

Michael P. Lombardo et al.

Summary: The study suggests that the right hand 2D:4D ratio may help predict distance running performance in both girls and boys, as well as overall physical fitness in boys. Factors associated with aerobic fitness explain most of the variation in composite physical fitness scores.

Does load management using the acute:chronic workload ratio prevent health problems? A cluster randomised trial of 482 elite youth footballers of both sexes

Torstein Dalen-Lorentsen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a load management intervention using ACWR in reducing health problems among elite youth football players. The results showed that there was no significant difference in health problem prevalence between the intervention group and the control group, indicating that the specific load management intervention was not successful in preventing health problems in elite youth footballers.

Influence of 2D:4D ratio on fitness parameters and accumulated training load in elite youth soccer players

Hadi Nobari et al.

Summary: The study found that goalkeepers tend to have higher body mass compared to center midfielders and wingers, and there were significant differences in ATL between goalkeepers from early-season to mid-season. Additionally, the 2D:4D ratio was negatively correlated with muscular strength and VO2max changes, and it significantly predicted changes in physical fitness in young soccer players.

Variations of Training Workload in Micro- and Meso-Cycles Based on Position in Elite Young Soccer Players: A Competition Season Study

Hadi Nobari et al.

Summary: The study aimed to quantify matches and training workload in micro-cycles of an elite young soccer team based on field positions and to explain meso-cycles. Results showed significant increases in acute load, chronic load, and training monotony between early and end-season, while training strain decreased. Coaches should consider field position in different situations to prevent injuries and manage training workload effectively.

Somatotype, Accumulated Workload, and Fitness Parameters in Elite Youth Players: Associations with Playing Position

Hadi Nobari et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate anthropometric, maturation, and somatotype differences among youth soccer players based on playing positions, as well as variations in AcL and fitness parameters. Results showed significant differences in body composition and maturity levels among different playing positions, with goalkeepers having higher values and wingers having lower body fat levels. The study also highlighted the importance of increased load in the beginning of the season, with more pronounced differences among player positions in pre-season evaluations.
