Tunable Dispersion and Supercontinuum Generation in Disordered Glass-Air Anderson Localization Fiber

Stefan Gausmann et al.

Summary: In this paper, the chromatic dispersion properties of transverse Anderson localization optical fiber (TALOF) and their impact on broad band supercontinuum (SC) generation are discussed. The study reveals a clear correlation between the Anderson localization length and the dispersion properties. The authors demonstrate the tunability of the zero dispersion wavelength within the same fiber by selective excitation of specific modes, and generate multi-octave spanning SC, highlighting the potential of disordered Anderson localization fibers for nonlinear applications.

Transverse Anderson Localization Enhancement for Low-Filling-Rate Glass-Air Disordered Fibers by Optimizing the Diameter of Air Holes

Jiajia Zhao et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a method to enhance the transverse Anderson localization effect of glass-air disordered optical fiber by adjusting the number and diameter of air holes. By choosing the appropriate parameters, the localized beam radius of the fiber can be successfully reduced, even at lower air-filling fractions.

Review of a Decade of Research on Disordered Anderson Localizing Optical Fibers

Arash Mafi et al.

Summary: Nearly a decade ago, researchers observed transverse Anderson localization in optical fibers, leading to the development of a new class of fibers that do not guide light based on total internal reflection. These fibers have been successfully used in endoscopic image transport and show interesting nonlinear and lasing properties.
