High-gain single-frequency Tm3+-doped ZBLAN fiber amplifier at 2.33 μm

Xuanxi LI et al.

Summary: We present the first high-gain, single-frequency Tm3+-doped fiber amplifier operating at the 2.3-mu m band using conventional ground-state pumping transition at 793 nm. The amplifier achieved a gain of up to 24.1 dB with a launched pump power of 14 W and a maximum output power of 246 mW. We also investigated the competitive laser transition at around 2 mu m and discussed the prospects for further power scaling.

Characterization of oxyfluorotellurite glasses with TeO2-Li2O-ZnO-LiF composition

Jaqueline Valeski Gunha et al.

Summary: The study found that increasing LiF content in oxyfluorotellurite glasses led to a decrease in oxygen packing density and reinforced the glass network with the formation of F-Te-O bonds. Increasing LiF content improved the glass's thermal properties, lowering the glass transition temperature and increasing thermal stability, but this effect depended on the concentration of ZnO.

Physicochemical Properties and Fiber-Drawing Ability of Tellurite Glasses in the TeO2-ZnO-Y2O3 Ternary System

Clement Strutynski et al.

Summary: Glasses in the TeO2-ZnO-Y2O3 (TZY) ternary system were examined in this study. The vitrification domain of the chosen oxide matrix was determined and material characterizations were carried out. Optical transmission and refractive index investigations were conducted on compositions yielding fully amorphous samples. Additionally, a multimode step-index fiber was fabricated by combining a TZY cladding glass with a La2O3-based tellurite core glass.

Narrow-Linewidth Diffraction-Limited Tapered Er-Doped Fiber Amplifier with 2 mJ Pulse Energy

Maksim M. Khudyakov et al.

Summary: This paper studies the possibility of increasing the output pulse energy in diffraction-limited Er-doped fiber amplifier. It is demonstrated that by using a tapered fiber design, the pulse energy can be increased up to 2 mJ while maintaining diffraction-limited beam quality (M-2 similar to 1.4). The factors limiting further increase in pulse energy are also revealed.

Nikolay A. Kalinin et al.

Summary: The coherent propagation of supermodes in a multicore fiber was studied, with a silica multicore fiber designed and fabricated with a 5 x 5 array of cores. A beam-forming system was developed for controllable excitation of desired supermodes, achieving selective excitation and coherent propagation of broadband radiation.

Coherent amplification of high-power laser radiation in multicore fibers from a rectangular array of cores

A. A. Balakin et al.

Summary: The coherent propagation and amplification of high-power laser radiation in a multicore fiber consisting of a square array of weakly bound cores are studied. Exact stable analytical solutions are found for the out-of-phase mode, which describes the coherent propagation of wave beams in such fibers. The stability conditions of the out-of-phase mode in the active medium are also investigated.

Spatial Beam Self-Cleaning in Bi-Tapered Multimode Fibers

Xiao-Jun Lin et al.

Summary: Spatial beam self-cleaning in bi-tapered conventional multimode fibers can improve beam quality of high-power lasers, with better spectral broadening effect observed in longer tapered length MMFs. By introducing bi-tapered MMFs, the input beam with poor beam quality from high-power fiber lasers can be converted to a centered, bell-shaped beam in a short length.

Design and Dispersion Control of Microstructured Multicore Tellurite Glass Fibers with In-Phase and Out-of-Phase Supermodes

Elena A. Anashkina et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively analyzed the dispersion and nonlinear properties of microstructured tellurite glass fibers with multiple cores, comparing them to single-core fibers in the near- and mid-infrared ranges. Discovered that the dispersion curves for in-phase and out-of-phase supermodes in multicore fibers shift in opposite directions from the dispersion curve for one-core fibers, with stronger effects for larger coupling between cores. Additionally, the dispersion of out-of-phase supermodes can be anomalous even at 1.55 μm, the wavelength of Er-doped fiber lasers.
