Does economic agglomeration affect haze pollution? Evidence from China's Yellow River basin

Xing Wang et al.

Summary: Economic agglomeration has an impact on haze pollution, with an N-shaped relationship, while labor productivity has a U-shaped relationship with haze pollution. Labor productivity is an important mediator in the effect of economic agglomeration on haze pollution. Haze pollution has both time-dependent path dependence and significant spatial spillover effects.

Spatial effects of urban expansion on air pollution and eco-efficiency: Evidence from multisource remote sensing and statistical data in China

Yizhen Zhang et al.

Summary: This study examines the spatial effects of urban expansion on air pollution and eco-efficiency using multisource remote sensing and statistical data. The results show that the eastern coastal areas have high eco-efficiency, while the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Chengdu-Chongqing regions have severe air pollution. Appropriate urban expansion has positive effects on air pollution and eco-efficiency, but excessive expansion worsens local air pollution.
