Coagulation/flocculation process using Moringa oleifera bio-coagulant for industrial paint wastewater treatment: optimization by D-optimal experimental design

F. Madjene et al.

Summary: Pollution from paint discharges with diverse and toxic chemical composition causes an imbalance in the aquatic ecosystem. With stricter environmental regulations and increasing water resource depletion, wastewater recycling has become a priority. This study aims to optimize the treatment of paint wastewater using a bio-coagulant extracted from Moringa oleifera seeds through the D-optimal design of coagulation-flocculation process. The results show that coagulation-flocculation is the best solution for clarifying paint wastewater, with a significant reduction in turbidity achieved under optimal conditions.

Wastewater treatment plant effluent and microfiber pollution: focus on industry-specific wastewater

Rathinamoorthy Ramasamy et al.

Summary: The production, use, and disposal of synthetic textiles can release a significant amount of microfibers into the environment. Municipal wastewater treatment plants serve as a sink for these microfibers, but textile industry wastewater treatment plants have been largely overlooked. The review demonstrates that textile industry effluents contain much higher levels of microfibers than municipal WWTPs, and the sludge from these WWTPs is an important source of microfiber contamination.
