Rashba splitting in organic-inorganic lead-halide perovskites revealed through two-photon absorption spectroscopy

Evan Lafalce et al.

Summary: The authors investigate the inversion symmetry breaking and Rashba effect in hybrid organic-inorganic lead-halide perovskites using two-photon absorption spectroscopy. The results show the presence of Rashba splitting in these materials and the inversion symmetry breaking is induced by ionic impurities. This finding is of great significance for understanding the spintronics and optoelectronics properties of these materials.

Magnetic Doping Induced Strong Circularly Polarized Light Emission and Detection in 2D Layered Halide Perovskite

Ying Liu et al.

Summary: The generation, manipulation, and detection of polarized light are the foundations of spin optoelectronics. Hybrid organic-inorganic halide perovskites have attracted attention due to their spin-orbit coupling and spin-dependent optical selection. The authors successfully synthesized Co2+-doped 2D layered lead halide perovskites and observed strong circularly polarized photoluminescence and photoresponse. The introduction of magnetic metals enhances the spin polarization in the doped samples.

Observation of large Rashba spin-orbit coupling at room temperature in compositionally engineered perovskite single crystals and application in high performance photodetectors

Abd Rashid bin Mohd Yusoff et al.

Summary: This study observed a large Rashba splitting in metal halide perovskite single crystals through compositional engineering, leading to indirect absorption and dual peak photoluminescence. The partial substitution of organic cations by rubidium in single crystals induced a significant Rashba effect, showing the potential of facile compositional engineering in advancing optoelectronic properties. The findings also demonstrated a promising application of spin-momentum locking in perovskite optoelectronic devices.

Summary: The interconversion between spin and charge degrees of freedom in van der Waals materials offers incredible potential for spintronic devices, especially with the emergence of materials possessing large spin-orbit coupling and layered ferromagnets. There is abundant room for progress in discovering and analyzing novel spin-charge interconversion phenomena, as well as exploring modifying properties through proximity effects. Recent advances in techniques for large-scale growth, device physics, and theoretical aspects have significantly contributed to the field.

Optically Induced Static Magnetization in Metal Halide Perovskite for Spin-Related Optoelectronics

Miaosheng Wang et al.

Summary: Through interface design coupling photoexcited orbital magnetic dipoles with magnetic spins, optically induced magnetization in perovskites has been discovered. Circularly polarized light can induce stable magnetization up to a depth of 7.5 nm, while linearly polarized light cannot. This finding bridges perovskite semiconductor with magnetism through an optically controllable method, providing new opportunities for spin-related optoelectronic devices.

Energy vs Charge Transfer in Manganese-Doped Lead Halide Perovskites

Damiano Ricciarelli et al.

Summary: The study investigates the competition between energy and charge transfer in sensitizing dopant luminescence in Mn-doped lead halide perovskites through state-of-the-art DFT calculations. It reveals that the charge transfer mechanism is likely preferred in Mn:CsPbCl3, while bandgap resonance can explain energy transfer effectively. The host band edge energetics, tuned by the nature of the halide X, play a crucial role in mediating both aspects of dopant luminescence.

Enhancement of spin-to-charge conversion efficiency in topological insulators by interface engineering

Haoran He et al.

Summary: This study investigates the spin-to-charge conversion efficiency in topological insulator heterostructures, finding that the insertion of Ru can enhance the efficiency due to its high electronegativity, while Ti insertion does not have the same effect. Additionally, perpendicular magnetic anisotropy field and magnetic damping are observed in BST/CoFeB samples, attributed to the interfacial spin-orbit coupling between BST and CoFeB. This research provides insights into enhancing lambda(IEE) and understanding charge-to-spin conversion in TI-based systems.
