Photothermal ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene/MXene aerogel for crude oil adsorption and water evaporation

Mingtao Zhang et al.

Summary: The development of a photothermal ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene/MXene composite aerogel with high light absorption and water repellency is introduced. The composite aerogel exhibits durable hydrophobicity, excellent photothermal performance, and a significantly reduced crude oil absorption time. Additionally, the designed solar evaporation device with the composite aerogel achieves high evaporation rates and efficiency. This composite aerogel provides a possible pathway for solar-powered crude oil adsorption applications.

Superhydrophobic polycarbonate blend monolith with micro/nano porous structure for selective oil/water separation

Tiecheng Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a porous polycarbonate blend monolith with hierarchical micro-nano structure was successfully prepared using a fluorine-free and low-cost material via a simple thermally induced phase separation. The monolith exhibited high porosity and low density, as well as superhydrophobic and superoleophilic properties. It also showed high adsorption capacity and rapid adsorption rate, along with outstanding environmental resistance and good recycling performance.

Polysulfone-Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone Blend Polymer Composite Membranes for Batik Industrial Wastewater Treatment

Arifina Febriasari et al.

Summary: By adding PVP to polysulfone membranes, the operational pressure during batik wastewater treatment was successfully reduced, with high removal efficiencies observed for COD, TDS, and conductivity in the experiment. The addition of PVP also enhanced the antifouling performance of the membranes, with PSf/PVP 0.25 demonstrating the best antifouling capabilities.

Surface modified by green synthetic of Cu-MOF-74 to improve the anti-biofouling properties of PVDF membranes

Hongai Zheng et al.

Summary: Mitigation of membrane fouling is crucial in membrane technology applications. A novel Cu-MOF-74 was synthesized and coated on PVDF membranes to enhance their anti-biofouling properties. The Cu-MOF-74 increased membrane hydrophilicity and roughness, sustained Cu2+ release, and generated (OH)-O-center dot to combat bacteria, showing high potential in water treatment applications.

Polyvinylidene Fluoride Membrane with a Polyvinylpyrrolidone Additive for Tofu Industrial Wastewater Treatment in Combination with the Coagulation-Flocculation Process

Irfan Purnawan et al.

Summary: This study aimed to prepare a PVDF membrane with the additive PVP for treating tofu wastewater in the UF process. The addition of PVP improved the physical and chemical properties of the membranes, increasing pore size and permeability. Water flux was most affected by the 14.85/0.15 PVDF/PVP membrane, with the highest rejection of TSS and turbidity in the 14.9/0.1 membrane and rejection of TDS in the 14.8/0.2 membrane. The pH slightly decreased with increased feed pressure across all samples.
