CFD-DEM Study of Bridging Mechanism of Particles in Ceramic Membrane Pores under Surface Filtration Conditions

Hao Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, the bridging mechanism of particles in the surface filtration process with pores larger than the particle size was revealed through the coupled simulation of computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method. It was found that particle concentration and inlet velocity play a crucial role in the formation of particle bridges and filtration efficiency.

Simulation and Experiment of Gas-Solid Flow in a Safflower Sorting Device Based on the CFD-DEM Coupling Method

Zhizheng Hu et al.

Summary: By integrating CFD and DEM methods, the separation mechanism of safflower petals and impurities under airflow was studied, establishing a true particle model. The optimal cleaning effect occurred at specific inlet airflow velocity, airflow inclination angle, and dust remover angle. Confirmatory experiments showed that using the DEM-CFD coupling method to study the separation behavior of safflower petals in the airflow field is reliable.
