Roles of MXene in Pressure Sensing: Preparation, Composite Structure Design, and Mechanism

Dandan Lei et al.

Summary: Flexible pressure sensors play a crucial role in electronic skin, robotics, and health monitoring, but their practical application is challenging due to limited sensing properties and complex manufacturing processes. MXene, a 2D nanomaterial, offers a breakthrough solution for pressure sensing, particularly Ti3C2Tx, which exhibits excellent mechanical, electrical, and hydrophilic properties. This article summarizes the preparation technologies, antioxidant methods, and properties of MXene, and introduces MXene-based microstructures, including hydrogels, aerogels, foam, fabrics, and composite nanofibers. The mechanisms of MXene pressure sensors, such as piezoresistive, capacitive, piezoelectric, triboelectric, and potentiometric transduction, are discussed. The integration of multiple devices and the future prospects of MXene smart materials for enhancing pressure sensors in e-skin and the Internet of Things are also examined.
