Sustainable synthesis of hierarchically grown chloramphenicol-imprinted poly(caffeic acid) nanostructured films

Subramanian Suriyanarayanan et al.

Summary: Hierarchically nanostructured thin polymer films were developed for chloramphenicol (CLP) imprinting using renewable monomer caffeic acid (CA) and sacrificial nanostructures. The films showed uniform porosity and sensitivity, with PCA(zein) films demonstrating the highest sensitivity for CLP detection. The selective extraction of CLP from the films allowed for the creation of CLP-selective cavities. The production of these films from renewable biological feedstocks highlights their potential for various applications.

Poly(caffeic acid) Redox Couple Decorated on Electrochemically Reduced Graphene Oxide for Electrocatalytic Sensing Free Chlorine in Drinking Water

Srinivasan Kesavan et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a poly(caffeic acid) (p-CFA) coated electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ERGO) surface for selective detection of free chlorine. The p-CFA@ERGO/GC electrode exhibited superior electrocatalytic performance for free chlorine determination, with a wide detection range (20 μM to 20 mM), high sensitivity (0.0361 μA μM-1), and low detection limit (0.03 μM). The p-CFA@ERGO/GC electrode demonstrated good recovery for real water samples such as commercial and tap water, consistent with the results of the standard reagent method.

Comparative investigation of bioflavonoid electrocatalysis in 1D, 2D, and 3D carbon nanomaterials for simultaneous detection of naringin and hesperidin in fruits

Hong-qi Xia et al.

Summary: Electrocatalysis of bioflavonoids in carbon nanomaterials, specifically hesperidin and naringin, plays a crucial role in electrochemical sensors for fruit analysis. This study found that carbon nanotubes (CNTs) modified electrodes exhibited the highest electrocatalytic activity compared to graphene oxide (GO) and Ketjen black (KB), attributed to the morphology and surface chemistry of the carbon nanomaterials. The electrochemical sensor based on CNTs successfully detected hesperidin and naringin in fruit extract, demonstrating its practical applicability.
