Hexokinase1: A glucose sensor involved in drought stress response and sugar metabolism depending on its kinase activity in strawberry

Runqin Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, four HXKs were identified in the genome of Fragaria vesca and F. pentaphylla. FpHXK1, acting as a glucose sensor, was found to be involved in drought stress response and sugar metabolism depending on its kinase activity. The inhibition of the HXK kinase activity delayed the strawberry plant's responses to drought stress.

Chemometric approaches for determining the geographical origin of Japanese Chardonnay wines using oxygen stable isotope and multi-element analyses

Fumikazu Akamatsu et al.

Summary: This study explores non-parametric statistical approaches for determining the geographical origin of wines. Through analysis of oxygen stable isotopes and multi-elements, it was found that non-parametric methods can better distinguish domestic and imported Chardonnay wines. The 618O value is significant for geographical discrimination in all statistical methods.

Integrative analyses of metabolome and genome-wide transcriptome reveal the regulatory network governing flavor formation in kiwifruit (Actinidia chinensis)

Ruochen Wang et al.

Summary: This study integrated metabolome and transcriptome data from 12 fruit developmental and ripening stages of Actinidia chinensis cv Hongyang, revealing key genes and transcription factors regulating flavor metabolism in kiwifruit. The research provides new insights into the metabolic regulation of flavor during fruit development and ripening, establishing a foundation for flavor improvement in kiwifruit.

Transcriptional Profiling of Resistant and Susceptible Cultivars of Grapevine (Vitis L.) Reveals Hypersensitive Responses to Plasmopara viticola

Peijie Gong et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism of grape defense against downy mildew by comparing different resistant grape cultivars at the transcriptome and phenotype levels. The findings revealed that hypersensitive cell death occurred in the resistant cultivar, and differentially expressed genes were significantly enriched in related pathways. Additionally, various physiological processes and key genes were involved in the defense response.

Transcriptomics-based identification and characterization of genes related to sugar metabolism in 'Hongshuijing' pitaya

Zhike Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in sugar content and sugar-metabolizing enzymes in different sections of pitaya fruit during various developmental phases. Genes related to sugar metabolism were screened using transcriptome analysis. The results revealed that sugar accumulation varied in different sections of pitaya fruit, and vacuolar acid invertase and sucrose synthase played crucial roles in sugar metabolism. HpVAI1 was found to have a key regulatory role in fruit development. These findings provide important information for improving fruit quality and breeding new pitaya cultivars.

Identification of PAL genes related to anthocyanin synthesis in tea plants and its correlation with anthocyanin content

Shan Jin et al.

Summary: This study characterized the PAL gene family in tea plants and investigated the role of CsPALs in anthocyanins accumulation. The analysis identified seven CsPAL genes and revealed that CsPAL4 plays a key role in the accumulation of different anthocyanins.
