A first-principles study on the doping stability and micromechanical of atoms in aluminum matrix

Jingtao Huang et al.

Summary: In this paper, the effects of various alloying atoms on the stability and micromechanical properties of aluminum alloy were investigated using first-principles calculations. The doping energy of each alloy atom doping system was used to determine the difficulty of alloying atom doping in the aluminum matrix. The fracture energy and theoretical tensile stress of different alloy atom systems were calculated to evaluate the micromechanical properties. Theoretical studies on the solid solution and strengthening effect of different alloy atoms in aluminum matrix can provide guidance for selecting appropriate alloy elements and shorten the development period of new aluminum alloys.

Electronic structure and atomic migration of the fourth, fifth, and sixth period atoms in aluminum alloys: First principles calculation

Jingtao Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, the vacancy formation energy and the migration energy of alloying atoms in the aluminum matrix were calculated using density functional theory. The vacancy formation energy of aluminum atom was found to be 0.70 eV, and the migration energy was 0.65 eV. The interaction energy between vacancy and alloying atoms in different periods followed a near-parabolic trend with increasing atomic number. Additionally, the diffusion activation energy of alloy atoms in the aluminum matrix exhibited a hump distribution in the same period, which can be explained by the distribution of electrons outside the nucleus.

A systematic study of interface properties and fracture behavior of graphene/aluminum: Insights from a first-principles study

Jingtao Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, the interface properties of graphene/aluminum composites with different structures were investigated using first-principles calculations. The results showed that coating graphene on the Al(111) surface can improve the fracture energy and tensile strength. Additionally, the introduction of C vacancies and Si doping can further enhance the strength of the composites.

Electronic Structure and Adsorption Behavior of Non-Metallic Atoms and Aluminum Atoms on the Surface of Graphene: DFT Theoretical Calculation

Jingtao Huang et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the electronic structure and adsorption behavior of Al atoms and X (X = B, N, Si, S) atoms co-adsorption on the surface of pure graphene and Al atom adsorption on the surface of X (X = B, N, Si, S) atoms-doped graphene. The results show that the adsorption capacity of (Al, X) atoms co-adsorbed on the graphene surface is significantly improved compared to the Al atoms on the pure graphene surface. The Si-doped graphene surface has a stronger adsorption capacity for Al atoms than pure graphene.

The interface properties of defective graphene on aluminium: A first-principles calculation

Yichuan Chen et al.

Summary: The study calculated the electronic structures and interfacial adhesion properties of graphene/aluminum interfaces with various defects using first-principles method. Results indicated that the graphene with a single vacancy defect had the highest work of adhesion due to strong hybridization between aluminum and carbon orbitals. Comparisons between different defect cases showed that bonding strength varied based on the type of defect present.
